Glock Oem Maritime Spring Cups - You may not be aware that there are actually two different versions of spring cups available for the firing pin installed in your Glock. One is the type usually installed on Glocks at the factory and the other is called the "Maritime Spring Cup". (Part number G3073)

A common misconception is that these cups are designed to allow the Glock to fire underwater. Contrary to what you've probably seen on youtube, it's extremely dangerous, and even if you don't take damage, you've probably done damage to your weapon. Glock does not recommend shooting the Glock or any other gun underwater without proper training.

The real purpose of these cups is to allow, in normal use, water to flow a little faster out of the firing pin channel when leaving the water and working on dry land, as well as allowing movement firing pin if water remains in this area after the pistol has been emptied. Glock does this by creating a cup with some of the plastic removed a bit, reducing the sealing effect that standard cups can have when water covers them.

The benefits of these optional parts are that if you have to work in a maritime environment, they can actually improve the reliability of your gun by allowing more reliable primer hits and therefore firings. As for the downsides, there isn't too much documentation on the longevity of these cups compared to standard cups, but one can assume that since there is 50% less plastic on the cup in contact with the Inside the firing pin channel, there would be twice as much wear on the cups as standard cups. I

Be aware that there are many records of Glocks performing thousands and thousands of rounds in endurance tests, and yes, they perform the standard cuts.

As for me, I usually run the standard spring cuts in my personal glock rack. I currently see no need for these cups for anything other than use in extreme conditions, and we all know standard cups work well in heavy rain (been there and done so). Unless the gun is actually submerged and then leaves the water and used without draining, I see no real reason to sacrifice the proven durability of standard cups and the longevity they provide to the system in which they are installed .
